A speech disorder in which people have difficulty articulating certain sounds is known as an articulation disorder. It primarily consists of one sound being substituted for another, indistinct speech, or demeaning speech. In simple terms, articulation is the process of producing speech sounds by manipulating articulators in a specific way to communicate ideas. Each language has its own set of speech sounds that are used to create words. However, articulation disorder occurs when a child produces sounds with incorrect articulator placement, pressure, coordination, or timing. It emits a distorted sound, which strongly suggests a speech sound disorder. Misarticulation of a sound can occur in a variety of ways, including substitutions, distortions, additions, and deletions. Speech errors are developmentally perfect, which means that several children make the same mistakes during the development stage.
